The Great Northern Family Health Team is pleased to now offer Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) programming to support individuals experiencing sleep problems which negatively impact their lives. CBT-I focuses on exploring the connection between the way we think, the things we do, and how we sleep. During the program we help you identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are contributing to the symptoms of insomnia.

Your Feedback Matters! Telephone Hours Now Extended

​

The Great Northern Family Health Team is pleased to communicate that effective today, April 11, 2023, telephone hours have been extended to improve access for individuals contacting the Family Health Team.

 

Our new telephone hours are:

Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:00pm

Friday 8:30am-11:00am

​

Our team will continue to review telephone hours for further enhancements in the future.

Did you Know?

The Great Northern Family Health Team implemented a new telephone system July 14, 2022 - improving our ability to meet patient demand, eliminating busy signals during telephone hours and has introduced new automatic callback/queuing features for times when our Office Assistants are assisting other individuals. The new system provides meaningful data on peak call times and call demand, which has helped to inform our resource needs. We now have Office Assistants dedicated to answering phones during telephone hours.

Debit/Credit Payment Method Option for Uninsured Service Fees

 

The Great Northern Family Health Team is pleased to now offer a debit/credit payment method option for uninsured service fees.

​

Uninsured services are those services provided to patients that are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Examples of uninsured services include: transfer of health records, drivers’ physicals, employment physicals, return to work/school related forms and/or notes, medical letters to insurance companies and lawyers

Online Appointment Booking Now Available!

​

The Great Northern Family Health Team is pleased to announce an online appointment booking option is now available to our patients. This has been made possible through funding from Ontario Health.

 

Online appointment booking allows you to easily and conveniently book an appointment with a member of our team, receive reminders about upcoming appointments, and helps staff to better serve you by reducing call volumes. Our online appointment booking platform is an easy to use system linking securely and directly to our appointment software and seamlessly notifies our office of your booking request in minutes! 

​

Online Appointment Booking is being introduced gradually  with the goal of eventually being widely available for most provider and appointment types.

October is Occupational Therapy Month!

​

Please join the Great Northern Family Health Team in celebrating Occupational Therapy Month 2022, recognizing the significant contributions of our Occupational Therapist, Martin Toupin.

 

Occupational Therapy plays an important role in primary health care. Occupational Therapists work as part of the interprofessional team to meet the health needs of individuals, families and the community providing service such as.

  • Chronic Disease Management

  • Home safety and accessibility assessments

  • Patient education and self management

  • Health promotion programs

  • Assessment and recommendations for assistive devices Senior’s Health

  • Driver screening and assessment

  • Falls prevention programs

  • Wheelchair and mobility assessment

  • Caregiver support and education

New Telephone System now LIVE!

 

The Great Northern Family Health Team is pleased to communicate that a new phone system has been implemented to provide better access for individuals contacting the Family Health Team.  The full migration to the new system was completed July 14, 2022.

 

The new phone system will improve our ability to meet patient demand with the ability for more people able to connect with us by phone, elimination of busy signals and a new queuing system for times when our Office Assistants are assisting other individuals. The new system also provides meaningful data on peak times and demand, to help inform our resource needs moving forward.

Masking will continue to be required at the Great Northern Family Health Team beyond June 11, 2022

 

Protection of our patients, visitors, health care providers and office staff remains a priority, ensuring a safe environment for all. As masking continues to play an important role in limiting the risk of COVID-19 transmission and outbreaks, The Great Northern Family Health Team will maintain the current requirement that patients, visitors, staff, volunteers, and learners wear approved masks when in the office.
